After being suspended for nearly two years, Indian Tourist Visa applications will resume from Sunday, 28 June. The announcement was made on Thursday (25 June) by the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi.

Several changes have recently been introduced to the Indian visa application process. Applicants must now book an appointment one day before submitting their documents. Tourist visa applications can be submitted at any of the five Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs) located in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Khulna.

How to Apply for an Indian Visa

Applicants must complete the online visa application form at:

https://indianvisabangladesh.nic.in/visa/Registration

After filling in all the required fields correctly, download the completed visa application form and proceed to book an appointment.

How to Book an Appointment

Applicants must book their appointment one working day before the intended document submission date.

Appointment slots for the next working day are released on the previous working day according to the following schedule:

• 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Sign up and upload the visa web file.
• 5:00 PM onwards: Appointment booking becomes available only for applicants who have successfully uploaded their web file.

Click on “Sign Up” and register using the same email address that was used in the online visa application (web file).

During registration:

• One OTP will be sent via email.
• Another OTP will be sent via SMS.
• Verify your account by submitting the email OTP first, followed by the SMS OTP.
• Complete the registration by providing your personal information.

Important: If you do not complete the sign-up process before 4:30 PM, you will not be eligible to book an appointment that day.

After registration:

1. Log in using your mobile number and password.
2. Verify your login with the OTP sent to your mobile phone.
3. Upload the required documents. The system will automatically extract information from the uploaded files.
4. Wait until the appointment slots become available.
5. At 6:00 PM, log in again to view your automatically assigned appointment slot for the following working day.
6. You are allowed to change your assigned appointment once, if necessary.

Once the appointment is confirmed, you must pay the visa processing fee online.

Note: The uploaded web file must be the original PDF of your visa application, must not be older than 30 days, and must not be altered, edited, or tampered with. Any modified file will be rejected.

Required Documents for an Indian Tourist Visa

The following documents must be submitted with your visa application:

1. Original Passport
   • Valid for at least six months from the date of application.
   • Must contain at least two blank pages.
   • Photocopies of the passport (first four pages and any extension/renewal pages, if applicable).
   • All previous passports must also be submitted.
2. Recent Passport Photograph
   • One colour passport-size (2×2 inch) photograph.
   • Taken within the last three months.
   • Full face clearly visible.
3. Proof of Date of Birth
   • Copy of National ID Card or Birth Registration Certificate.
4. Proof of Residence
   • Recent utility bill (electricity, telephone, gas, or water bill) issued within the last six months.
5. Proof of Occupation
   • Employees: Employer’s recommendation or employment letter.
   • Students: Valid student ID card.
   • Businesspersons: Trade Licence.
6. Proof of Financial Solvency
   Applicants must provide one of the following:
   • Foreign currency endorsement equivalent to USD 150, or
   • Copy of an international credit card, or
   • Updated bank statement showing sufficient financial balance.
7. Online Visa Application Form
   • Printed copy containing the registration number.
8. Scanned Photograph
   • A scanned copy of the applicant’s photograph must be uploaded in the designated section of the online application form.
9. Previous Passports
   • All previous passports must be submitted along with the application. Failure to do so may result in the application being considered incomplete.

Visa Processing Fee

The Government of India does not charge a visa fee for Bangladeshi applicants.

However, the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) charges a visa processing fee of BDT 1,500 for all visa categories. This fee must be paid online at the time of booking the appointment.

Passport Collection

Once your visa application has been processed, you will receive an SMS notification on the mobile number provided in your application.

You can then collect your passport from the designated IVAC according to the instructions mentioned in the SMS.
